This year due to some injury's in football the NFL has started enforcing a new rule that I believe is the dumbest rule in the game. This rule says that the players are not allowed to make a “critical” tackle. The rule is basically saying that the players are not allowed to make the hits that have shaped the name for what football is known for. Not only that but the result is negative yards against the players team, and he is fined thousands of dollars. The kind of critical hits that I am talking about include, a head to head hit, and a hit against a defenseless receiver. Some of the head to head hits that happen in football can not be avoided. As a football player I and everyone else playing the game is taught to aim for the chest when tackling someone but when the player that is getting tackled has a natural reaction to curl up just before they get hit. This reaction brings the head from their normal height of maybe 6' 5'' down to the 5' 8'' weight which now puts the players head at chest height. For the tackler it is impossible to change your aiming point in the middle of a tackle, unfortunately basically screwing the tackler. Hitting a defenseless receiver is also ridiculous because what is the defense suppose to do, let the receiver just catch the ball than tackle him. This rule is absolutely the dumbest rule to happen to football.
